The first step for the non-Syrian asylum-seekers in accessing the protection mechanisms in Turkey is the partner registration procedure conducted by SGDD-ASAM.

Since 2013, the registration procedures of non-Syrian asylum-seekers are conducted on behalf of the United Nations High Commisioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in SGDD-ASAM Ankara Headquarters.

Upon the completion of the registration procedures, asylum-seekers are referred to satellite cities identified by the Ministry of Interior, Directorate General of Migration Management (DGMM) and following the registration with te relevant Turkish authorities, they can have an Access to rights and services such as health and education.

In order to accelerate the procedures of asylum-seekers identified to have a vulnerable situation (unaccompanied children, LGBTIs, single parents, single women, elderly people and disabled persons) during the registration processes, SGDD-ASAM contacts UNHCR and the related public institutions to ensure that these individuals shall have an immediate access to rights and services.
