The project has been implemented in Gaziantep, Konya, Istanbul and Ankara provinces. Special guidebooks for each province have been prepared with the name of “I Know My Rights, I Want You to Know Them Too”which have been publicized through workshops, training and networking activities.
The guidebooks basicly involve the social and cultural opportunities in Turkey, general information about the local integration and designated NGOs to apply for (Maps and sketchs, emergency information, leisure time activities, courses, etc.). In the preparation of the guide, it was aimed to constitute a comprehensive source which involves access to rights mechanisms, sample petitions to present to designated authorities (to Governorships, Municipalities, Bar Associations, NGOs; sample documents such as exemption of habitation tax, aid in kind and financial aid, legal assistance, travel permit, etc.).
“I Know My Rights, I Want You to Know Them, too” This guide became an efficient source for NGOs to refer to advocates and applicants. Also, this Project enabled refugees and asylum seekers to know about their rights in their native languages and present these rights to service providers in Turkish and do self assertion.
The Project was funded by the European Union.
