The Cash For Work Project being run in Adana and Gaziantep aimed at the temporary employment of the Syrian refugees residing in the two cities. Funded by GIZ and conducted between July 2016 and January 2017, the project implemented in cooperation with municipalities, it constituted one of the first examples of the formal employment of the Syrian refugees in Turkey, due to the enactment of the Turkish legal regulation (January 2016) concerning the work permits of this particular refugee population. 500 Syrians in Gaziantep and 200 Syrians (in addition to 200 Turkish citizens) in Adana have been contracted by ASAM. Under this contract, they worked as municipal workers at the Parks, Gardens and Green Areas Departments of Adana-Seyhan District Municipality and Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality. The project is ended at the end of February 2017.
