ASAM started to implement a new project titled “Enhancing the Protection Mechanisms for International Protection Applicants in Turkey” in November 2016 with the support of the European Union. The project provides social and legal counselling and psychological support to refugees and asylum seekers in 9 new multi-service centers (in Çankırı, Çorum, Denizli, Eskişehir, Konya, Manisa, Mardin, Nevşehir, Samsun) and 6 new field offices (in Aksaray, Bolu, Sivas, Trabzon, Uşak, Yozgat), and the capacity of 3 existing field offices (in Afyon, Kayseri, Niğde) is enhanced within this project. The project aims to increase awareness on the refugees and asylum seekers’ rights and obligations, referral to protection mechanisms in place, support local authorities in the delivery of protection and promote social cohesion between the host community and refugees.
